Travel Log - Day 5

Thunder Bay, Ontario - Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario ~ 734.5km

Ontario is a huge province. This particular drive (500km of it) is part of the Lake Superior Loop which is a 1500km loop/drive around the lake. So I guess 1000km of it is down through the states of Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin. We didn't get our passports before we left, but even if we had we probably wouldn't have done the loop as I don't think it would be a drive my mom would want to do, she's not a nature lover. This is somewhere that I'd like to go with Shawn ,when we drive across Canada, when the kids are grown.

I was expecting Sault Ste. Marie (the soo, as it's called) to have a neat part of town. Somewhere with a funky street of shops and pubs, but there isn't such an area. We did find a pub down by St. Mary's River which has Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on one side and Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on the other side.

Nice little boardwalk along the river where the locals meet up to chat and fish, others just sit and visit with each other.
